The Tymbal website exists to share information about Auchenorrhyncha, a group of insects that includes leafhoppers, cicadas, froghoppers, spittlebugs and planthoppers (see here for information about the site). The aim of the website is to aid international scientific cooperation in the study of this group of organisms.

The International Auchenorrhyncha Society was established on the 10th of July 2013 during the 14th International Auchenorrhyncha Congress and 8th International Workshop on Leafhoppers and Planthoppers of Economic Importance, 7–12 July 2013, Yangling, Shaanxi, China.
